Great Product!,
I bought this for my sons third birthday and just checked Amazon to see if I got a good deal. I saw the bad reviews and felt compelled to address a couple issues. First off install the software that comes in the package… it takes less than two minutes. I imagine the one star review tried to use it like an external hard drive. Once you start the program you select the folder to load pictures from. I would recommend making a new folder and copying the pics you want into that one; it will just save time. Once you choose a folder and the pictures load you can crop them one at a time, load groups that don’t need to be cropped, or select all of them. The program auto-formats the pictures for you and you can watch the memory left on the device as you load them. I was able to load 94 pictures onto mine. (Well 68 pictures and the 26 letters of the alphabet.) Once this was done I unplugged the thing and turned it on. Presto chango I’m done and the most time consuming part was choosing the pictures.
Second if you’re having issues with Windows 7 and this program or any other program for that matter go to the Microsoft webpage. They have a free download that allows Windows 7 systems to operate XP programs. If you have a Mac I can’t help you there.
It’s the wee hours of the morning so I can give it to my boy as his pre preschool present so he actually hasn’t played with it yet. I know he’ll love it because if I’m looking at pictures on a computer, phone, camera, or album and he sees me, he’s in my lap or trying to take the phone away. The shake feature seems a bit wonky, but it’s easy to operate and pretty neat. I went through the pics a few times myself.
Update 9/18/12… Should of done this sooner since I never talked about how my son interacted with it. So it’s almost been a year and he still uses it. Took maybe 5 minutes to teach him how to use it when he first got it and now we’re using the clock function trying to teach him time. It’s made a couple trips to daycare/preschool for show and tell. Also you can’t come to our house without him showing you his pictures. It’s been very durable and I’m very happy I purchased it and even now at $25 it’s worth the price to augment the new electronics aimed at kids… Also come to think of it, I don’t think I’ve ever changed the batteries.

Great Product!,
I bought this for my three-year-old son for Christmas. He loves it. My husband is deployed and this especially helped my son feel more connected to his father. He loves looking at all of his special pictures. It is also super durable. My only problem with it is that downloading the pictures to it was not as easy as I thought it would be. The instructions are not very helpful. This process took me a while to figure out but once I did it was easy.

Windows 7,
I had the same problems as others with Windows 7 and even contacted Vtech. Their product support told me that Win7 wasn’t supported. Lo and behold, I found the windows 7 setup on the Vtech.de website. Hope it’s ok to post urls…. [...]
