Fantastic, Balanced, and Encouraging!,
This is the book I have been looking for. The information is balanced and practical. It makes becoming vegan simple, without ignoring some of the challenges that might be encountered along the way. I particularly appreciated the nod to healthy body image and a healthy relationship with food, all within a framework of compassion – for ourselves and for animals. I found this book to be both positive and useful, which I think can be tricky. Thank you to the authors for a wonderful vegan foundation!

Important and Helpful,
Thank goodness for Ginny Messina! She teaches us how to be safe, healthy, and happy as vegan women at every stage of our lives. I wish I’d had this book when I went through puberty and menopause, and I’m glad to have it now as bone health and longevity are my new priorities. Women at every age will find important, simple, and helpful advice here.

A book every female vegan should own.,
Ginny Messina is easily one of the most honest, reliable, intelligent and talented vegan health professionals I know of. There’s so much exaggerated, untrue and possibly dangerous information about vegan diets that it’s sometimes overwhelming trying to separate fact from fiction; after many years of being vegan, I occasionally find myself stumped or tempted to believe some outrageous promise that I know is too good to be true. But I trust Ginny Messina without reservation, and she’s the first person I turn to when I get lost.
Why?
Messina does something kind of extraordinary: she tells the truth. When the truth hurts. Or when we don’t even know what the truth is. Her moral compass points toward the billions of animals who are killed annually to become food, yet she delivers accurate information about vegan diets that don’t always make them sound simple. In other words, rather than promising a glamorous lifestyle with perfect health, it’s just about facts and science.
I have learned more from Ginny (and her co-author from Vegan for Life, Jack Norris) than any other person. She’s a gifted communicator — able to make tedious topics accessible and often interesting. She is, to borrow a cliche, a breath of fresh air.
I am giving copies of this book to the women in my life because the information is important, useful, life changing — for the animals that are spared and the vegans who maintain vibrant good health. What’s so great about this book is that it covers vegan nutrition from birth till death, and how to get from one to the other, with as much energy, health and — most important of all — compassion as possible. I cannot recommend this book highly enough.
