I was thinking about getting the print edition of this, but when I saw it on kindle for only $2.99 I knew I had to have it. Written concisely and not filled with a bunch of fluff and filler, it has many recipes for good green cleaning products that won’t harm my dogs or irritate my senses. As a fibro sufferer, certain chemicals and smells can really bother me and cause me to flare, having this at my disposal is a great way to know I’m not going to load up my body with toxins while Im cleaning. I mean, cleaning is suppose to rid your home of germs and toxins, not add them.

Mysti Guymon-Reutlinger has written a book that is timely to those wanting to give back to the environment, those with multiple systemic allergies that need a viable way to clean without dyes or added fragrances, and us with medical issues that can really be helped by de-toxifying their way of cleaning.

    I highly recommend this book.

I am definitely a product of the commercial cleaning movement, and this book looked interesting. What I immediately liked was the explanation of harmful chemicals and the side effects they cause. So many times after cleaning I have sensed some of these symptoms, but I never thought it would be the cleaning products.

The recipes are great, and I have all of those items already except for one. I do like how it is broken down for the type of item you want to clean and includes simple mixes. I did laugh at the dishwasher detergent recipe though. It listed what to add to the dishwasher, and when reading the next sentence that said “Run” I wondered if the dishwasher would explode and I was supposed to run away!

This is a great book that I would recommend to anyone.

Just Right For Our Household, February 25, 2011
This review is from: The Pantry Cleaner: Chemical Free Cleaning (Paperback)

When I saw Mysti offering her book as a pre-order WITH an autograph, I knew that was too good to pass up! I love holding books in my hands, particularly when they’re such a good resource like this one. One day, I’ll have an e-reader. In the meantime, I’ll enjoy my print books.

The Pantry Cleaner: Chemical Free Cleaning is just what our family ordered. My husband suffers from pancreatitis and now has issues with his liver. My youngest son has severe allergies. So, finding ways to keep the family healthy is high on our list of priorities – including how we clean.

I’ve been interested in natural cleaners for two reasons: (1) I’ve read that they’re more cost-effective, and (2) I’ve also read that if you can’t eat it you shouldn’t be using it to clean with. Mysti’s compiled a collection of cleaning recipes that will allow me to venture from room to room with ease.

I’m keeping this book in my kitchen with my cookbooks. Even though it isn’t a cookbook, per se, this kitchen guide is a useful addition to the rest of the go-to guides I want my family to frequent. Its slim size makes it easy for tucking into my household binder, too, so I might put it there.

I’m looking forward to seeing more from this author.
