The Art Of Housekeeping: A Complete Guide On Cleaning The House

The Art Of Housekeeping
There is an art to housekeeping. People who care about the cleanliness and upkeep of their home and immediate surroundings need to cultivate good cleaning habits. Hey, even the earliest cave dwellers at some point realized the benefits of regularly throwing moldy bones out of their rock shelters. Good housekeeping can be learned through practice and application, just as someone can be taught to create a beautiful painting even if they are not a ‘natural born’ artist

In this engaging book you will discover that housekeeping need not be a dull chore. The writer covers the process in a systematic fashion in some 10 chapters in 50 pages. Now it turns out to cover far more than dusting, moping and vacuuming. Time is devoted to proper caring for wood and tile floors, the bathroom (which guests often judge you by) and the kitchen. You will find truth in the saying, “this home is clean enough to be healthy and dirty enough to be happy.” Special instructions for do-it-yourself projects can save you lots of money. Chapters also cover care and maintenance of the lawn and garden. A focus is on seasonal activities, such as pruning, fertilizing and composting. You will find advice on the best lawnmower for your needs. I am sure that this is a guide you will want to have if you do any housekeeping at all.

The author’s writing ability makes it quite engaging and I personally did not find it a dull chore. I should warn you that it is a very comprehensive guide of 50 pages so very little is missed in this house cleaning guide. She is systematic in her approach, picking up, sweeping up and moping up. Floor care gets good coverage, especially bringing life back into old wooden floors. She suggests getting your children engaged in helping out with cleaning chores as a way of introducing the work ethic. Her directions on applying oil and then waxing and buffing old floors could easily save you a thousand dollars–if you hired a professional to do it. In another chapter dealing with furniture cleaning she describes in detail the method of re-upholstering the seats of kitchen chairs. Her instructions on cleaning bathroom tiles and the porcelain toilet are amusing. Of course, she gives directions on replacing the flapper in the tank if the water fails to turn off after flushing. Other chapters deal with cleaning the bedroom, the kitchen, and windows (interior and exterior). From inside she moves on to caring for the yard, the garden, recycling and so on. I am sure that you will find valuable information in this book that will save you money and make your house sparkle.
