I bought this on another site before I saw it on Amazon. Paid $10 more for it. I bought it because I am going to Athens in March 2011, and it has the Greek language as well as French Italian Spanish and German. I’m a 67 year old retired male, and this is my first time to travel abroad. I have traveled all over the U.S. for the past 10 years, and decided this year I’ll try another country. I am going to stay in Athens for 6 days and rent a car to see Sparta, Delphi, and Mt. Olympus. I have a GPS that speaks English, but by traveling in some remote areas of Greece, I’m sure I will need a translator. I have researched many kinds before I decided on this one. I’ve had it for a couple weeks now, and it seems like it will work for me. It has a storage for instant recall of favorites, so I am entering phrases I think will be helpful, and will play them back, like before I enter a restaurant, and have them fresh in my mind. It not only speaks, but shows typewritten in the chosen language, as well as English. It helps when hearing the spoken version to see it written in my language. Sometimes what may sound like a “g” could be a “t”. It will only accept and repeat back single words, that you can choose. Would be nice if you could type in a whole phrase of your choice. It does have many, many, pre-selected phrases arranged in categories though, and I do have a couple months to choose and select, then place them in favorites. If anyone could advise on the best way to understand their reply please let me know. I am going to try to guess at their response then type it in English and listen to playback in their language. Will have to familiarize myself with single, common words. That’s where it would be nice to be able to type in a phrase and translate it. Sometimes words that are said in phrases are pronounced entirely different. Anyhow….this seems to be a very good translator for the price. It came with a quick start, and an in depth manual, an earbud, and a Greek alphabet punchout that can be placed and removed over the English keyboard. As far as the vocal playback. It’s pretty good. Any foreign language will sound strange when you hear it, that’s why the typewritten part is nice. You can read along in English as they speak in their language. makes it easier to understand.
Again, I think it’s a pretty good little product for a soon to be world traveler. Who knows, next year it might be Rome.
Hope this take on it helps.

I love the fact, that there are only the languages, which I was looking for, an it is real easy, to work with.
There is also the feature, when I’m not sure how to pronounce something, I can listen to it.

Living in Germany & traveling a lot, I ordered the Lingo Eurotalk Translator. I did a lot of research first & according to what I had read about it, I was very excited to get it to help understand menus, street signs, etc. However, it is not as “user friendly” as the reviews made out. When we go into a restaurant, before we can figure out what the menu says, our waiter/waitress has already come for our order. They explain it in English just fine & I have not been able to get any use from this item AT ALL!!! Not as easy to use as they claim! Most of the words we have tried to look up, simply do not come up in the translator. Somewhat hard to understand the voice translator, too. Extremely disappointed that I blew $100 on something that is of no use to me.
