The hydroton is great the price is awful,
When I received this order I was shocked to find the hydroton loose in a postoffice mailer bag, and the quantity was little more than enough to fill one orchid pot. 2 pounds sounded like a lot but it isn’t. I then looked at other Amazon offers and found another for 11 pounds of hydroton for $22.67 or $2.06 per pound compared to this one of $11.74 for 2 pounds or $5.87 per pound — that is almost triple the price. The product is the same but the price is not even comparable. PS Since my review was published they even raised the price to $12.99 making it more than triple and even worse.

works great since it’s made of clay and weighs almost nothing, i originally started using tiny decorator rocks, but noticed once the net pot was full the roots would have a hard time getting down to the water line, plus the heavier the mass in water the more water is displaced, the clay weighs virtually nothing and remember to rinse before use.

Just be sure to thoroughly wash them before putting them in your deep water culture. The dust will quickly muddy your water if you don’t.
