If you’re trying to give a small girl some knowledge about gardening, this is definitely a good source to draw from for flowers. It’s written well and easy to read, though the author definitely has some advice that is purely for opinion’s sake rather than for the care of the flowers. It is clear that the writer has a lot of experience and is eager to share it in a way that can be understood. I’m finding this useful in planning a window box to brighten my porch of plants that might actually survive my forgetfulness (indoor plants are right there where I can see them when they droop, outdoor ones, not so much…)
