I really enjoy CeeDub’s work… both print and video shows. His books are more than typical cookbooks. His personality is felt on nearly every page with anecdotes and his descriptions about the recipes. Many times, his explanation of how many of the recipes got their names bring on images of adventure. CeeDub’s books are simply down to earth and absent of a pretentious style.

My husband loves to cook when we camp and he enjoyed Cee Dub’s television show. We purchased one of Cee Dub’s books and the stories were so interesting that I purchased this book in order to be able to read more stories. My husband loves them.

Vigo knows how to combine flavors. Living in the South, we have occasion to eat “real” home made red beans and rice fairly frequently. Vigo, by far, makes the best store bought variety on the market. Cook it up and add some hot sausage to it and you’ve got a meal that will be devoured in no time flat.

We been long time fans of their Red Beans & Rice and Black Beans & Rice mixtures and I was delighted to find that they easily cook in our rice cooker by following the following steps: I measured the contents of the package and then simply added an extra half cup of water. Even if you’re cooking 2 packages you only add an extra half cup of water more than the contents. For example, if there is 1 cup of rice & seasoning, I’d use 1 and 1/2 cups of water in my rice cooker. It never fails to come out perfect every time!

The BEST red beans & rice, March 5, 2009

I 1st found Vigo red beans & rice in a dollar store about 3 years ago. Since then I have been unable to find any mix that beats it! I’ve tried several brands, including the brand that always has commercials on tv(starts with a ‘z’)…none of them come close to Vigo. I just add a pound of browned ground beef or ground turkey to the cooked rice & have myself a whole meal. I just wish that this rice was easier to find in my local grocery stores. Buy it, eat it, love it!

VERY tasty- a little high in salt…, June 2, 2011

I cannot imagine you’ll find a better, more satisfying prepackaged- just add boiling water- red beans and rice dish anywhere. Each package is said to have (4) servings, more realistic would be 2 servings. Add andouille sausage and it is a feast.
(I mentioned in the title of this review that Vigo red Beans/Rice is high in salt, it’s 730mg per serving- which is high. recommended daily intake is 2,300mg…and I eat half the package totaling 1460mg)
