I had previously ordered and received a Rothco shemagh. I am pleased with it, but found the blue color to be a bit too much when I wore it at construction sites (double-takes and stares from coworkers). I realized I wanted something more subtle in color, so I ordered the Army Universe sand & tan military shemagh. The day after it arrived (one day sooner than promised), winds in New Mexico were blowing at 40 to 60 mph and the sand was actually painful on my face. I folded the Army Universe cloth to make a face mask (hard hats are required head wear, so I didn’t make the classic middle east head and face wrap). It worked very well and the color did not attract undue attention. It actually matches the color of the local sand quite well.

Regarding the qualities of the Rothco vs. Army Universe shemaghs: The Rothco is made in India, the Army Universe in Pakistan. The Rothco is of a slightly looser weave and the tied knots farther apart. The Army Universe seems just a bit more tightly woven and the knots around the edge closer together and more tightly tied. (I am not an expert by any stretch of the imagination regarding these things, this is just my personal observation.) I keep the Army Universe sand & tan shemagh in my daily use backpack, the Rothco in my emergency/overnight bag, but this is based strictly on color, as I mentioned. Either one is entirely satisfactory for its intended multiple purposes. Both are recommended.

Outstanding Shemagh. I already washed it 2x & the original color remains unlike the other shemaghs I owned before it discolored. This shemagh is perfect for covering your face from the dust or for concealment. It is large enough for all that. It is soft & not harsh. Highly recommended item to purchase.

This item showed up on time and I was excited to finally receive it but when I opened it up the smell hit you and then there was holes from what looked like moths in the fabric
