What NOT to Give Your Mom on Mother’s Day
A little boy offers advice on what NOT to give your mom on Mother’s Day, unless she’s an animal. For example, don’t give her a rotting log unless she’s a salamander, or a bunch of flies unless she’s a spider! What would Mom like best?

Just OK.,
I have four boys and got this book for them. The book is fun to read it just doesnt really flow very well if you know what I mean. The pictures though are what help out alot. The illustrations are fun to look at and make the book a lot better. My boys really liked it though and loved to think up their own things that would be funny to give their mom.

Another granddaughter favorite …,
I love reading books to my granddaughter, and even though Mother’s day was over, there are many other holidays that involve giving gifts to Moms, so we sat down together.
At first grade, she could actually read a majority of the words, but always enjoys listening. We read through and had fun. About half way through she realized that on the animal pages there were both a baby and a Mom, so we had to go back and look. When we got done, we went back and talked about the expressions and characters that were there.
And (spoiler alert) We now have the words “A big hug and a big kiss” on the whiteboard we use to remind her of the best gift for her Mom.
The new word and animal she learned was salamander. New words are fun.
Granddaughter votes this five stars.

Cute!,
This is a really cute “advice” book about what kids should NOT give their mothers on Mother’s Day. To be honest, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect, so I was surprised at how cute this was. Each two-page spread tells you what not to give your mother unless she’s a particular type of animal (for example, don’t give your mother a salt block unless she’s a deer).
The illustrations are simple and cute, and in a roundabout way, the book teaches kids about a variety of different animals. The book is also incredibly short, so it’s great for emerging readers to read aloud or for toddlers who are being read to. If you’ve read to a toddler recently, you know they’ve got short attention spans, but my two-year old let us get through every page without demanding we turn it before we were done with the text. This will definitely be getting a lot of re-reads!
