For the price, this mitt is well worth it. I like the way it covers your forearms. Many times I have burned them when placing a roasting rack or skewer apparatus on a large platter to bring inside, and they slid just enough to touch my forearm. It does smart. This mitt eliminates this slight mishap. It also eliminates wincing when adjusting hot coals or adding charcoal to the fire; or when getting close to the fire to flip or move whatever you are cooking. It is a heavy duty mitt of decent bulk and quality. It fits my hands (I bought two) just fine and does not materially hinder my handling of barbecue utensils or cooking racks. I have no problem with its thumb as others have mentioned. I must admit however, that I would not attempt to wear them while picking up small to medium plates. Hope this helps.

I bought this BBQ mitt because it was reasonably priced and made by Weber. Being a Weber fanatic, I had high hopes. But after trying to use it for the first time last night, I’m pretty disappointed. The mitt is very thick and heavy, which is great for protecting your hand from the heat. But it’s so thick and heavy that gripping things with it is tough. Holding onto a wide-handled spatula was doable, although not super easy. But holding onto and trying to manipulate BBQ tongs was pretty much impossible. After much frustration, I finally took the mitt off and used the tongs barehanded. I’ll probably use this mitt on occasion, but it won’t be anywhere near the number of times I had expected to use it. Kind of disappointed with this one, Weber.

I think these mitts are worth the price, but they are not flawless. Their thumb opening is on the same plane as the rest of the fingers, which is not how we have them aligned in our hands –at least when we are using our hands to grab something. Because they are rather stiff, this makes them a little difficult to use.
