I like this toy because it is durable. We have owned similar sets that fall apart as quick as you build them. There is nothing more frustrating. This set also includes some sound effects, and things that “shoot”. My kids like things that shoot. If you have a child that likes transformers, and enjoys make believe, this may be a good set. I show how the set works in my video review, if you are looking for more detail on the extras.

After saying that, I side on the 2.5/3 stars because the shooters were weak, and I think the replay value falls short. The other thing that frustrates me is that there isn’t enough pieces included in the set to keep a child interested. If you are going to show the set with these pieces, they should be included. They are not. I looked into this, and additional pieces are 10+ dollars. This becomes quite an investment, especially if you are not sure the child will like it. Also, I would put the recommended age at 4-5.

I would say that even though this toy is well built, skip this item and look at the Imaginext products. They are a sure bet. My kids LOVE transformers, and I still do not think this is the product to bet Christmas on.

Heatwave the “Firebot” NOT a transformer, August 29, 2012

    Hi.
I don’t write many reviews but felt I needed to come and write a review for this toy.

This is a great toy but there is a serious deception here with the advertising/deception and what you get

My son got this for his 4th birthday yesterday. He REALLY wanted this toy and has watched the commercial video here on amazon COUNTLESS times! If you watch the video it CLEARLY shows a transforming Heatwave the fire bot in the video, but when we got the fire truck out of the box we were both totally surprised to find out that Heatwave the “fire bot” was not the transformer. It is the same size and everything of the actual transforming toy but the one that comes with this is just a cheesy plastic “knock off” that has a painted robot on the bottom of the truck, so you can stand the truck up on end and “pretend” it is a robot but it does not transform into a robot, and has no arms or legs to move or anything like that. It made me wonder if they knew that and that is why they don’t show that in the video.

My son’s exact words were “mom, this is not cool” now when you get that from a 4 year old, he knows he got duped as the description clearly states “Heatwave the Fire bot vehicle” I think they should be more clear on the description of the enclosed vehicle.

Now, the REAL transformer rescue bot toys are getting hard to find right now, so I am not able to get the actual Heatwave for him at this time.

I did call Hasbro to log a complaint. They were very friendly and accepted my concerns. I really don’t see how including the actual transformer would have cost them any significant amount more, the truck included at first glance looks exactly like the transforming bot, same size and everything.

Also note, the same is true of the vehicle in the Bumblebee garage play set

I did ask if these toys are going to be more available for the holidays and the representative at Hasbro did confirm that the bots will be available for this holiday season so that at least is something.

Generally, It is a great toy, and after the initial disappointment, my 4 year old is having a great time with it. It seams sturdy yet light enough for him to cary around, and I am sure once we get some actual transformers, he will simply LOVE playing with this.

Just beware that NO actual Transformers are included in the set and if your little guy is expecting transforming vehicles, you may want to get one or two with the set so they can get to playing. It would be a shame to have any other disappointed little guys out there.

I got this as a gift for my girlfriend’s nephew. He loves firemen, firetrucks, firehouses, etc. In fact, he had his recent birthday at a local firehouse that offers a up close look at all of the equipment and trucks. He loved it and his friends thought it was the coolest. So of course, he wanted a rescue heroes fireman related item. At first I wasn’t sure if this was quite the right pick, but after seeing his face – this was the perfect gift. There are electronic sounds for the sirens and little plastic flames for the trucks to pretend putting out. This item, for the money, offers a ton of extras that many others in this price range do not. He isn’t really into transformers, but after playing with this – you would’ve never guessed that. All and all, I couldn’t have found a better gift.

GE Bulbs – Packaging Issue, March 29, 2012

The first set of 2 garage door opener bulbs arrived but 1 did not work. This was NOT Amazon shipping issue. The bulbs have nothing within the GE box to hold them secure so they can bump against each other. Amazon replaced them right away.

I should have had my head examined to buy light bulbs across the Internet. These seemed like a good idea – and they may hold up to the shaking of a garage door opener – but they don’t hold up to shipping. Before I even opened the bubble-wrap I could hear the light bulbs clinking together. There wasn’t even a barrier between the two bulbs and they were clinking together. Even bulbs bought in a store have a barrier between them. Ok, I thought – these bulbs must be strong enough to take it. Wrong. One bulb worked, the other didn’t. It seemed a waste of my time to seek a refund or replacement for a $3.50 bulb, so I chalked it up to experience. Maybe you will learn from my mistake.
