I purchased this for my grandson who is a toddler. When I opened up the box and tried to open the garage doors I found them difficult to open with my fingers. There is a small stub next to each door which is very difficult to hold for adult or toddler. Also, the doors must be opened up and out before sliding them in and the same goes for closing them. It is very difficult. The middle door kept getting stuck. I believe these are design flaws in the toy and would not recommend it as it will only result in frustration for your child. It is unfortunate because otherwise it seems well designed.

Enduring interest for a variety of ages, September 21, 2010

My younger son received this as a birthday gift when he turned one year old. At that time, he was a little too young to operate this toy, but now that he’s almost two years old, he is fascinated by turning the keys in the locks.

My older son, 5 years old, also enjoys this toy, although not as much as last year. They fought over this toy quite a bit when it was new, and they still do now and then.

It does take quite a bit of skill to open the garage doors once they are unlocked; you have to grab onto a small tab and pull it upwards just so. That is my only major criticism of this toy, because I think it would be more interesting and accessible to a variety of ages if the doors were simpler to open.

As a parent, I appreciate how everything fits together and closes up for easy storage.

The feel of the toy is quite plastic-y and typical of toys manufactured by Battat (in my experience); however, it has held up without problem so far.

Overall, I would recommend this toy for ages 24 months through 4 years old. It has survived many rounds of decluttering at my house, which definitely says something for its play value.

I think this is a great toy — especially for kids who like cars. I find Battat generally good quality, and this is no exception. The garage comes with 2 nice cars. Each garage has a differently shaped key that can be used to lock or unlock the respective door. It sounds simple but it’s good early logic for kids’ development. The colours are nice and bright, and it’s fun to have the cars drive in and out. There’s something very engaging about it, and like the previous reviewer we’ve had ours for ages. Durable and can be passed down to younger kids or others because it’s build to last.

I first bought this (Maxsa) version of this device (virtually identical to the Sierra version, clearly the same manufacturer). All was well at first, both lights nice and bright. But after only two weeks, one of the laser lights went dim. It still comes on, but not nearly bright enough to be of use. Since we liked the system during the short time it worked, we decided to roll the dice again, hoping for a better outcome, so I ordered the Sierra version. Guess what, the EXACT same thing happened (one light on, but too dim to be of use), but this time time it happened DURING THE INITIAL AIMING PROCESS! So, I now have two of these things installed in my garage, each of them with only half of it working.

    Don’t waste your money.

Got this item so there would be space for me to walk to the other side of our garage (where the tools are) without having a vehicle in the way.

The first one died about a month after ordering it. The company I ordered from was gracious and sent me a replacement even though I was past the 30 day guaranteed return.

The second one is going strong and is fantastic. Just maneuver your vehicles into the places you want them to stop (and the garage door won’t hit them) and adjust the lasers to hit the edge of the dash ahead of the steering wheel.

Great device that beats the tennis ball on a string any day!

The laser works great but you can’t move the beam as wide as you need to get both cars..You need a high ceiling
