I bought this kit to keep in the house and avoid having to run to my larger tool chest in the garage when I need a couple of basic tools. In general, the tool quality is good for general household use, and I really only have two complaints about the kit.

The first that is that the ratchet is basically junk (but what can you really expect for $43?). It’s O.K. for light duty work, but don’t expect to crank on it very hard without it breaking. If you think you’ll need this tool often, consider buying a higher quality ratchet and socket kit.

The other issue that I have is that there are no wrenches included in the kit. I plan on picking up a cheap crescent wrench to add to mine. (Come on, Stanley, increase the price a few bucks if you have to, but make this a complete kit by adding a crescent wrench!)

Finally, the plastic box that the tools come in is nice from the standpoint of being able to quickly locate a tool, but the box takes up a lot of storage space. I bought a small tool bag to keep the tools in, and I found it more convenient. You have to look a little closer to find the tool you want with the bag, but there aren’t enough pieces in this kit to create problems finding tools.

Stanley is definitely a descent brand and this tool set is pretty enough for everything i need. The only thing I want to complain a little is you need t a screw driver to open this tool set. (If I had a screw driver, I may not need to buy a tool set!) Other than that, that’s all fine!

I bought this for my daughter and son-in-law to use in their co-op in Manhattan. Stanley makes good quality products and this is one of them. Just keep in mind that at this price point you are buying tools for ordinary projects around the home, not for heavy duty use on a daily basis. For example, the ratchet set works, but is not of the quality designed to take lots of torque. But you won’t need that for most projects around the home.

Here is why I like this set:

    1. For an economical price you get all the basic tools needed, and a convenient toolbox to store them in. I disagree with another review that this box is inordinately large. It will easily fit onto a closet shelf or floor.

Note: Earlier negative reviews complained that the tool box arrived with a screw holding it shut. However, the box that I received had no such screw, and easily opened. Apparently the company redesigned it.

    2. The tools are well made and good value at this price point.

    3. This doesn’t contain lots of unnecessary tools. Although it has no wrenches, you can buy an inexpensive adjustable slip wrench if you think that you need one. But once you learn to use the ratchet set, you may find that you don’t need one.

Bottom line: This is an economical way to get quality tools that you will use around the house.
