When I first ordered these markers, I was expecting average quality, but these are better than that. As a beginning anime artist, I was in search of a way to darken the lines in my drawings and lessen the amount of pencil smudges in them. And after countless searches on both Google and Amazon, I’ve been constantly rerouted to this same set of markers. It took a while for them to get here (possibly due to the fact that there was a problem with my credit card and the time of shipping), but that’s besides the point. Every marker within the packet was well worth the money.

All the caps, as well as the sides of the pens, are numbered accordingly to their size. There are 5 fine line markers,1 chisel marker, and two brush markers. Six out of the eight markers are black, while the other two are brown. I feel as though the brown markers are unnecessary, since they’re sort of a light brown color, and I feel like they should have put them in a seperate case with other color markers (they must have snuck’em in there for an extra few bucks lol). The bigger the number is, the thicker the marker (however, the chisel and brush markers are marked with a “C” or “B.”).
Each one has been very helpful to me, depending on how large and detailed my pictures were, like when I have to draw an eye up close, I would need thicker markers on certain parts of the eye, like the outlines (i.e. the picture of the anime girl on the front of this package).
So all in all, these are really great for beginners and more advanced artists who want to give their drawings a little more “professional” touch. They don’t bleed out (so long as you don’t go over the same line repeatedly and don’t have REEALLY thin paper), they don’t have a strong odor, and they really help with all of my issues with pencil smudging. Cuz lemme tell ya, you can’t darken many drawings in pencil because of that! lol

As I’ve started drawing more often I’ve been looking all over the place for any inking pens that are cheap but that will not bleed through the paper or smear. These pens are AWESOME. They don’t cost very much and the black pens are a very solid black that leave a very clean effect. If you run your finger over the line directly after making it, there is zero evidence of smearing and I was surprised to note that the pens do not show through to the other side of the paper, even while using regular printer paper, which is known to be thin.
I am so glad I bought these. They’re varied enough that I can always find exactly the right line to make my art look as good as possible, and I highly recommend these markers.

I will say that the “Sepia” markers are not really sepia at all. They come out looking like a dark brown color, which I would have assumed was black unless comparing the two side by side. The tiny sepia marker is a little lighter than the brush tip sepia marker, but they’re still quite dark.

I spent years looking for an affordably priced yet well-designed drawing pen to replace the more expensive individual pens I’d been buying (Sharpie pen/Hyper5, etc. that go for $6 for one pen). These Prismacolor pens, well they’re pretty much it.

I recommend this particular set of 8 for people who are new to the pen drawing scene and want to sample what Prismacolor has to offer without spending much money. Knowing just how well each type of pen works convinces me that at a later date, when I’m in the market for a full set of pens (more than just the black/sepia tones in this pack), I will first look at Prismacolor.

The variety of fineness is appropriate, never going into ‘marker’ territory, and going even finer than your average pen. The chisel tip is excellent for calligraphy, and the brush tip works very much as a brush ought to.
