When I bought this I thought it changed colors, turns out it just stays blue. Nice for a night light.

In these modern times, there are loads and loads of different kinds of toys to be made. However, not all of them are good, and I am into things which look cool, I could care less about a robot that walks, talks, beeps, and blinks.

These fiber optic mini trees are sold on Amazon.com, what better plays to find the best things? Anyways, they also happen to have the best deals most of the time, I saw these trees on there listed for $7.00 with free shipping, so I thought I would pickup a couple of them.

First thing I noticed when I got them out of the shipping box, is that the trees are incased in plastic tubes to protect the micro fibers. I just slide them out of the tubes and right away the fibers want to spread out in their tree like form.

The base is all made of plastic, but its very shinny plastic! Lets just put it this way, it looks like chrome, you touch it, you smudge it. The trees operate on 3-AA batteries, of course not included, or will operate by a 4.5VDC adaptor, which is also unfortunately, not included.

The base has a power switch on the bottom of it to allow you to turn it on or off. Though the micro fibers are not bright enough to see in broad daylight, you can however see them at night. Which is fine by me, since most neat light shows are done at night anyway.

For the $7.00 I paid for each one, I have to say I am quite impressed with the micro fiber trees. I just wish that they came with the adaptor so that I did not have to burn through batteries all the time. Get your rechargeable’s ready LOL. 4 out of 5

This light is only blue, so it does not change colors like the other ones do. At first it seems like not all of the fibers work, but it is actually just the beam of light from below the fibers is too narrow for the base, and therefore, not all the fibers light up. It will come packaged poorly, as last week I ordered the one that rotates and changes color by the same manufacturer, but it was delivered in a crushed box, and out of the product package inside the box. I ordered this “smaller” one to replace that one, and it is actually identical in size, with the only differences being this one does not rotate, and it does not change to the other colors.

works well, change is easy but did not fix my issue with color on my Sony DLP. turns out its a TV engine issue and there is a class action lawsuit on this. Sony replaced my TV out of warranty. Call Sony folks and get a new TV if refered to Customer relations.

The lamp I received was a legit Philips bulb and was identical to the old bulb I removed from my Sony 55″ SXRD tv (my original bulb lasted 6 years…). Install was super easy, it just snapped in — vacuumed the area for dust at the same time. It’s working perfectly so far, one month in. The real test will be to see if this rivals my original bulb’s life span. I’ll write back if it fails early.

Great service and arrived in excellent shape. The problem was the bulb was a little harder to seat than expected. Both doors to cover bulb have to be PERFECTLY aligned for the TV to acknowledge a new bulb is in place. After a call to Sony and their encouragement, it finally was in place. When replacing this bulb, remember to go into your settings and indicate you have replaced the bulb so the TV will know it was done so it can indicate its useful life has been restarted. Saved $95.00 on a service call, and I’m sure they would have charged more for the bulb than I paid. Good luck!
