Absolutely DISREGARD the lone 3 star rating here. This is a 5 star all the way. EC comics were so groundbreaking that they actually spawned the dreaded “Comics Code Authority”. This first edition of MAD blends their controversial horror themes, incredible art, and satire/humor into a MUST READ for any comics enthusiast.

I wasn’t born when Mad Magazine was first published so I was ignorant that the early issues were done in a traditional comic book format than the version we have today. This first issue poked fun at the types of comics EC published rather than the general pop culture parodies we have today.

I love mad magazine! I wish more were free though other than that its a great magazine. This is the first I’ve read but if the others are as good I’m in a lot of luck.
