Great product that surpasses others on the market,
I haven’t seen a product that can interface with my Humminbird finder, download my waypoints with ease and be able to manipulate the waypoints as I want. The map software is very powerful and appears to have a large number of lakes for my regions (Texas/Oklahoma). You can zoom in fairly close to the map software; you can add pictures to each waypoint to recall what the area looks like (particulary if you’re taking pictures of the shoreline). It’s great add if you’re trying to figure out a lake to fish on.
I would have given it 5 stars, but there are couple of small downfalls on the product. I had to download Humminbird’s software, but actually had to download one of their older versions of their software. For some reason, the waypoints saved from my fishfinder are not compatible with this software, and using the older version allows you to download the waypoints, save them using Humminbird’s older version of the software and then import them into Contour Elite. This took a while to figure out, but LakeMaster tech support was very helpful. It’s just an extra step now, and not a deal-breaker.
The other small drawback is the auto-zoom when you select a WayPoint. When you tell the software to zoom into that waypoint, it doesn’t zoom enough….so you’re left searching for the specific waypoint on the map. If you have a number of waypoints marked, you can literally have about 50 waypoints you’re searching through. However, the map software does slightly highlight that particular waypoint, which helps. But it would be helpful to have the software zoom completely.
