NOT THE REAL THING!, June 8, 2012

I ordered this, expecting that this was a legitimate Apple USB Power Adapter, as advertised. My order arrived quickly, and I opened it up and felt a little suspicious about the packaging, even though it came with an ‘Apple’ manual (without product warranty). I plugged it into my USB port and then into my ipod. The fit seemed a bit tight. The USB adapter looks the same size as the one that came with my ipod. My ipod did not make a connection to my computer. When I pulled it out it stuck, and pulled out the piece inside the casing of the ipod USB adapter (the part that plugs into the ipod). My opinion: Don’t waste your money. Spend the $ Apple is asking for it’s real ipod USB Adapter.

I have recently become an online buyer making quite a bit of purchases online. No product has disappointed me like this one. It broke in a week and now I have to buy another.

Exchanged the items because first ones didn’t charge the iPad- customer service was excellent- they replaced them plus let me keep the ones I had- but the original and replacements were not Apple OEM cables – still worked though.

I’ve been using this with the Endomondo app to track my runs with my iPhone 4S for about a month. No issues whatsoever. Automatically turns on and pairs quickly (no on/off switch). It recommends to get the sensor wet before putting it on, but for me it always detects my heart rate even if the sensor is dry. It’s pretty comfortable; I quickly forget I’m wearing it (though it’s my first HR monitor and I don’t have anything to compare it to). I was concerned that it would not work at the same time as my bluetooth headphones, but I was happy to find out that both bluetooth devices can be attached and it will stream online radio to my headset while recording my runs with the HR monitor. Gotta love bluetooth! Highly recommended.

The iPhone is really amazing. I got this 60beat Blue heart monitor for my spinning class. I used it with the 60beat App and runkeeper (for a walk yesterday). Works great. Both apps are free. The runkeeper App uses the GPS and provides speed and distance for your workout, along with the heart rate information. In the spinning class the iPhone is fantastic. Big display and the Bluetooth works great. When I did my stretching, some 30 feet away, the iPhone still picked up the heart rate signal.

It works with a bunch of Apps, I will probably check out some of the paid Apps soon, although the free ones are pretty good. I definitly recommend this product.

This product was up and running with my iPhone 5 within 3 minutes! After a frustrating experience with a competing product (the Wahoo Blue HR monitor), I was grateful. I am a tech savvy person, but never got the Wahoo unit to work – it was stuck on 176bpm, and I tried everything suggested on their website and FAQs. Furthermore, Wahoo’s support experience was terrible: no chat or telephone, just email, and it took them 48 hours to reply. I returned the Wahoo unit (which was also $30 more than this 60beat BLUE monitor)! I did quite a bit of web research and then bought the 60beat product. It has my full endorsement if you want a HR monitor for biking, running or weight lifting (haven’t tried swimming yet).
