Beautiful lamp, with Important information for buyers!,
This lamp is BEAUTIFUL, hands down the best lamp that I’ve ever owned, and if I had the room for it, I’d have bought two. The light is diffused wonderfully and it gives a soft glow that’s easy to read by.
Okay, important info: The lamp will take only B12 or Candelabra Base bulbs. You don’t have to buy the Ikea bulbs, but the Ikea bulbs are Compact Florescent Lights and last for a very long time. It’ll take any Candelabra Base/B12 bulbs, and I recommend CFLs for their lifespan.
The lamp DOES NOT come with bulbs included, so buy the bulbs with the lamp. It takes 3 bulbs, and it takes 40w bulbs MAXIMUM. That’s 7w in CFLs and 40w in incandescent bulbs. I tried 60w-equivalent CFLs and it tripped the breaker when I tried turning it on. Bad idea, but it taught me a valuable lesson about actually paying attention to the maximums.
The lamp takes about 2 minutes to put together, and it comes in a box that you’d think would be entirely too small for it. Leave it to Ikea to fit a 5ft+ tall lamp into a small box.
The lamp has a foot stomp switch to turn it on, but you can plug it into a standard outlet with an on/off switch. It does not work with dimmers, to my knowledge (especially if you have the Ikea CFLs in it).
Again, the lamp is a great addition to my bedroom and I can’t recommend it highly enough.

Purchased 2 of these lamps from IKEA @ $20 each (GREAT BUY!). This floor lamp is an excellent addition to ANY room (living room, bed room, dorm rooms). Small footprint. The switch is a step-on switch part of the power cord (convenient). Takes 3 model E12 light bulbs, again IKEA sells a 9W (40W equivalent) 2-pack for $5. I think the floor lamp caps out at 40W max, anything above is probably a fire hazard (i.e. 3 x 100W bulbs isn’t recommended). Overall, an excellent buy. Highly recommended!!

|Requires rare, magic, unicorn bulbs…the description might have mentioned that.,
When you’re poking around amazon for something fairly basic…say, a lamp…you’d expect that some information would be fairly obvious. It might be good to know, for instance, that the lamp you’re looking at needs some unusual, funny shaped bulbs that nobody human is likely to have lying around the house. I needed a new lamp, and this one seems to be okay so far, but its not so much a lamp as it is a big crumply column of paper sitting in the corner not lighting up my living room.
Now I’m well aware that Ikea has a reputation to maintain as a seller of suburban-zen crap with impossible names that lend an aura of sophistication to stuff that cost a buck fifty to manufacture but c’mon, Ikea/Amazon….most people have a certain kind of lightbulb size in their house already, and now because you failed to call out in the product description that special, tiny, underwear-gnome-sized bulbs are needed, I have to trek back out into the frigid night to do battle at WalMart in the hopes of unearthing some freakishly tiny bulb to placate my stupid “lamp” which thinks its important enough to warrant special attention.
If I wanted something this diva, I would have just brought home a cat.

|Great little lamp.,
Ordered this mainly as a reading lamp. It looks nice. It was really easy to put together. And one thing I love is, though the on-off switch is at the top of the lamp, there is a separate switch on the cord that I can keep by my side, thus allowing for changing, turning on, or turning off, from my recliner.
Don’t let people trying to sell those “sunshine” lamps fool you. I tried one from Hammacher Schlemmer. Paid a good $40.00 more, and it was UN-USABLE. The glare on the TV and on reading material made me miserable and I had to have the light shade turned down completely to keep from blinding anyone else in the room. Check out something simple like this, instead, if you just want to be able to see to read. I’ve gotten lots of compliments on its looks, too.

|Good floor lamp, not exactly as described though,
I had bought this lamp due to not having enough space in my room for a table lamp and it definitely works well. The frosted shade protects from any glare on my television and it lights my room perfectly. The only problem with this lamp is that I had bought it with the expectation that it could dim using a 3-way bulb, however it is not capable of doing so. The product features state:
# Rotary 3-way switch on torchiere and rotary switch on reading lamp
# Uses 100W Type A 3-way bulb and 40W Type A bubl – Not included
However there is neither a rotary switch on the reading lamp nor an actual 3 way switch. Don’t get me wrong, this lamp was worth the purchase due to the Amazon Prime eligibility and cheap price, although I wish that the feature description actually matched the product I had received.

|Love this lamp!,
The glass shades are beautiful and the metal work is also very nice. The only things I would change would be to give the reading light it’s own switch and give the torchiere a 3-way option. It has a nice, heavy weight, decorative base. I thought the price was very reasonable, too.
