NOT heavy duty at all, July 14, 2011

These are as pictured, but NOT at all heavy duty. They are the flimsiest net pots I’ve ever seen. On top of that, if you have a 3-inch hole, they’ll probably fall through. I have well-drilled 3-inch holes and unless you have these sitting perfectly in them, they’ll fall through. Once the plants start growing, with the additional weight, I’m 95% sure they’ll fall through the hole quicker than a pair of cheap pantyhose get a run on an itchy porcupine. I would HIGHLY suggest a more durable net pot with a bigger lip, not this product.

These net pots were indeed what was pictured, but the addition of “Heavy Duty” is very misleading. The plastic is extremely flimsy, and I’m positive I’d have no trouble at all breaking them accidentally at some point.

I used a standard, 3-inch hole saw to cut holes in the lid of a plastic tub and these pots just barely stayed put. The lip is almost non-existent. If I put even a minimal amount of pressure on the base of the pot, it would slip through with ease because of how readily the plastic bends.

They would work, but I decided to take a gamble and try a similarly priced product:

The Flora net pots solve all the problems I ran into with the Hydrofarm ones. They’re very sturdy, they sit securely in the same holes the Hydrofarm pots fell through, and I got them a good deal faster. The shipping is also free.

If you’re up to spending a few dollars more, I’d definitely go for the ones from Flora.

Lip is not big enough. Cup slips thru 3″ hole. Do Not Buy!, January 10, 2012

The lip at the top of these cups is too narrow to stay place in a standard 3″ slot. With any weight, they fall thru. Do not buy these if you plab on using them in a 3in hole.

After seven years of purchasing books here, this is my first review. I think so highly of this book I had to write a review. High quality product, and information. This book may not have enough meat for a graduate student to use but certainaly the greenhouse owner or gardenstore worker will benefit greatly. Nice depth in wide array of topics. Good full color photographs used liberally throughout the book. Very best information available on lighting in the greenhouse or indoor applications. I have read a full dozen books on hydroponics, and greenhouse operations for the home grower or small farm. This is the best. If you need one book this is it.

This is a tough review to write, because the book is actually very good. The problem is the title. The title implies that hydroponics is an important focus of the book, but it isn’t. The book has about 20 chapters, and only one, the 13th is about hydroponics. In addition the chapter contains only vague details about how to setup and use hydroponics. The book would be much better titled: “Gardening Indoors”, then it could get the ranking it deserves.

Great and very complete book, September 30, 2008
This review is from: Gardening Indoors with Soil & Hydroponics (Paperback)

I have done a great purchase. This book is full of detailed explanations and very useful information, based on scientific facts but with understandable words (I must say I’m not English spoken). Great, Great, Great.
