“Haunting” is an excellent read!, April 29, 2013

I don’t usually read young adult fiction, but a friend suggested that I take a look at “Haunting.” This well-written book is not just for young adults, but for all readers. Yes, the protagonist, Dusty Vermeer, is a teenager, but then so is Holden Caulfield in “Catcher in the Rye.” “Haunting” falls under multiple genres, including romance, mystery, fantasy, war, crime and thriller, in an entirely believable way. I could not put it down.

    ~Haunting~ is a haunting hit!, April 30, 2013

BJ Sheldon’s ~Haunting~ is a spectacular debut novel. The author creates a world populated with delightful, believable characters engaged in real-world struggles, even if one of those characters does happen to be dead! I loved the protagonist, Dusty Vermeer. When work forced me to set ~Haunting~ aside for a couple of days, I found my thoughts constantly returning to Dusty, wondering what would become of her ghostly romance, and worrying about how she would manage the looming threat in her life. I had to know how this story turned out. Ms. Sheldon uses masterful pacing to build riveting tension, and she delivers an explosive climactic sequence that I could not put aside. Readers beware: Dusty Vermeer will capture your heart even as she places her own in jeopardy. Congratulations, BJ Sheldon! I can’t wait for the sequel.
