Beautiful bulbs – best price I’ve found, September 14, 2010
    Amazon Verified Purchase(What’s this?)

I ordered six of these for a double-pendant light above my dining room table. I think I may order many more, to keep a stockpile as they burn out – I love them! They are gorgeous when turned on, dimmed, or even off, and perfect for any antique or replica historical light fixture. They add so much personality and a beautiful golden light. They do not burn as brightly as modern-style 60W incandescent bulbs…take this into consideration when choosing wattage. They come very carefully packaged – I was very satisfied with the way they were shipped.

Beautiful But Not Bright, October 14, 2011

Edison reproduction blubs are incredibly beautiful. They glow a gorgeous warm deep orange red color. They are that final touch in a restoration project trying to capture the feeling of the 1920′s.

It is very important to understand, these bulbs use 60 watts of electricity, but they only output about the equivalent of maybe 25 watts of light (I’m being generous, it’s probably more like 10 watt night light level). In the picture, there are two loops of filament, or fine wire inside the bulb. That is the only portion of the bulb that glows. The glass is clear so the filament is very visible.

These bulbs are sturdy construction, the glass is thick. The nipple at the top is where the bulb had a vacuum pulled and then clipped off with a flame to seal the bulb.

I believe it is recommended to use these bulbs in a vertical direction, either pointing up or down; but not on an angle. And avoid too much vibration. The filament is not very strong, and the lamp will burn out more quickly if the filament isn’t pointed straight up or down.

I have this bulb installed in a three season porch light with a hand blown clear glass globe with a lot of bubbles in the glass. The lamp gives off a wonderful warm glow; the bubbles and the dual filaments cast interesting shadows. I would not install this lamp in an outdoor fixture exposed to the wind and rain.

Medium base means these lamps will fit the same socket as a standard North American 100, 60, or 40 watt fixture. Even though these bulbs give off less light, they still use 60 watts of electricity, it is important to respect the wattage rating of the fixture.

This bulb looks great. It has a nice warm glow. I am buying another to replace one I just broke. Love it.
