…. Sigh,
If I could give this zero stars, I would. No offense, but.. sigh.
One thing that I found incredibly annoying is how the writer actually used ‘FFS’ instead of the actual words when the character was thinking to herself. That painfully reminds me of how the worse teenage “writers” on the many online websites type out their stories. I’ve never seen a writer use an acronym instead of the actual words when typing out something other than a business name, and I hope to god that I never see it again.
It started out okay. However, it moved too fast. The main character is just.. meh. For one, she just totally goes along with the ideal of him being a vampire because “she can tell that it’s true.” Really? And then she basically just seems to throw herself at him any time she comes within 10 feet of him, which doesn’t make her look too good. Then later it’s revealed that she hasn’t slept with more than like, one guy or something. She was over 50% close to having a threesome with her druggy best friend, throws herself at a strange man who claims to be a vampire, and then the author wants to make it look like she’s not totally easy. Okay.
This was hilariously disappointing, especially after reading all of the beaming reviews of how great the book was.

More than I Expected,
I did not expect this series to offer anything new to the vampire genre. I read it thinking that it would nothing more than another smoldering, sexual tension based story much the same as every other vampire stories a new one of which seems to pop up every day.
I am happy to say that this story is far more complex, far better written and consequently a much better book than many of the ‘me-to’ books of this ilk. In Patrick we have a hero that we want to try to understand and that, in my opinion, gives The Last Vampire its most compelling story line. Patrick is by far, the biggest draw of this first book. I found shades of Beauty and the beast here that I particularly loved. Overall a terrific read and I am looking to reading them all.

Horrible,
I don’t even know why I finished it.. good thing it was free or I would have demanded my money back.
