Experts agree that the most important part of learning a language is rapidly building a foundation of word and phrase knowledge. Byki is the fastest, most direct path to that goal it hacks into your memory and fills it with foreign words and phrases. Whereas traditional learning methods spread their learning out across a multitude of lessons and activities, Byki gets right down to business with a proven three step process: 1. Byki guides you through a review of the Arabic material you will learn

For those who want to learn Thai,
First of all, I did not like anything that Transparent Language Inc (the parent company of BYKI) has put out. Everything they did seemed rushed and amateurish. Then, they came out with BYKI (Before You Know It). I was skeptical. In fact, I did not want to even look at it. BUT, I was suckered into buying it by their great adverting campaign. As I waited for BYKI Thai to arrive, I regretted buying it. When it finally arrived, I played with it a little. To my astonishment, I was very impressed. I have owned BYKI Thai for almost a year and I still think it is a good program.
____BYKI Thai is basically electronic flash cards. The words are spoken in Thai. An added bonus is the cards have a visual representation of the words placed right on them. These pictures serve as mnemonic devices. BYKI also offers different ways to use the cards:
1. A student can go through the cards with Thai sounds and the English translation
2. A student can hear and see the Thai word and then must type the English translation
3. A student can see the English side and then must type the Thai translation
____BYKI also has various activities:
1. Multiple choice game
2. Fill in the blank
3. Matching cards game
4. Pronunciation practice
5. “Four Square”–the student quickly sees four cards in English. Those cards are turned over. Then the middle 5th card is turned over and said in Thai. The student has to remember what the English cards had written on them and then pick the right English card.
____BYKI includes test, too. All progress on test and activities are recorded. BYKI has 153 lists on the program and there are more lists that can be downloaded from their website. Moreover, you could make-up your own list. All the flash cards can be printed out. What’s even better than that is that you can put the flash cards on your IPod and/or smart phone.
____For me, using flash cards is the best way to learn a new language (with the exception of getting a girlfriend who speaks very little English). BYKI cuts down the time it takes to make flash cards and it keeps track of all the words and phrases that you have already learned. The problem is that flash cards are boring and they don’t teach grammar–though, some of the cards do have sentences on them. Over all, this is a great program for learning vocabulary and some key phrases. Well worth the cost. Truth be told, this may be the last language learning program you will ever need to buy.
