The idea of having a dock which can charge the phone as well as an extra battery outside the phone at the same time was very appealing to me, as my husband uses the cell phone for business and it gets a lot of use. He uses Nexus Galaxy phone with Hyperion Verizon Samsung Galaxy Nexus 3800mAh Extended Battery which makes the phone extra thick. I tested the dock with both regular slim battery and the extra thick extended battery.

I am attaching a collage of 4 photos that I will be referencing in this review. The photos can be located by following ‘customer photos’ link under the main photo.

The first photo shows that the dock did not fit the phone when it had the thick extended battery installed. Photo #2 shows the bottom of the phone and extra thickness this battery forms. The phone with the regular battery fit without problems.

Photo #3 shows the extended battery in the dock, the contacts of the battery did not line up with the contacts of the charger due to the thickness of the battery. The green light on the dock indicates that the dock is plugged in, not that the charging is happening.

Photo #4 shows a regular battery in the dock, and it the charging of the regular size battery worked without a problem.

I received this item for an honest review and shared both positives and negatives aspects of my experience with this dock.

Overall, if you have a phone with a regular size battery this device works without problems. If you use extended battery in your phone this charging dock is not for you.

Sleek and attractive, this proprietary charger is not very heavy, but can charge your Samsung battery at the same time you can listen to music or do some minor phone functions. The package contains a USB cord for your computer and the other end with the Samsung smaller port to charge.

You can also use an extra charger, which is faster, like the Bolse® 4 Port High Output USB Wall/Travel/AC Rapid Charger (4 Amps / 20Watt / Fastest Speed) For iPhone, iPad, Samsung Android Smartphones – Black or Bolse® 4 Port High Output USB Wall/Travel/AC Rapid Charger (4 Amps / 20Watt / Fastest Speed) For iPhone, iPad, Samsung Android Smartphones – White. Although you can charge your Samsung with the battery in the unit, this allows you to charge it separately. Samsung batteries run a little over ten dollars. There is an auxiliary port on the back that allows you to plug in and listen to tunes. If anything, it makes for an attractive display charger for your Samsung Galaxy.

JUNK! Please don’t waste your money.., April 18, 2013

    Amazon Verified Purchase(What’s this?)
This review is from: Bolse Dual Desktop Charger Cradle Dock with Spare Battery Charging Slot for Samsung Galaxy S3 I9300, with audio output (Wireless Phone Accessory)

The FIRST time I set my galaxy into this cradle, the thing broke. The micro USB slid right down into the base. I could then hear some rattling inside my new paperweight. Being that I’m mechanically inclined, and I do not like being taken advantage of, I made the decision to make this crap work for me. I removed the four screws from under the rubber feet and separated the two halves. I immediately found the two tiny screws that we’re floating around inside, along with some very shoddy craftsmanship. Not only were the screws not long enough to provide a durable connection between the circuit board of the micro USB, but the ground wire on the board itself was frayed and very likely to make a connection with one of the other solder points. This would most likely have ruined both the charger and my phone. Bad.

I did make this junk work for me by clipping the loose parts of the ground wire and sinking some longer screws into the circuit board slots. So it wasn’t a complete waste. If you enjoy doing this type of thing, then by all means, buy one. Otherwise, go with a different product.

Also, this does not fit phones with an extended battery; with our without a case.

P.s. total after purchase “fix” time is approximately two hours.
