Real life conditions is far more complicated,
The book is nice written, pictures and annotations are just perfect. However, this book depicts ideal conditions for laying a patio. Those conditions are hardly ever exist in real life so the book teaches an abstract perfect theory that can’t be really applied in real life situation. Every example shown is perfectly leveled, isolated surface just like it was purposely prepared for the photo shooting. What happens with the adjacent land? How you should deal with slopped surface? what if there is a asphalt driveway adjoins to the patio stone? How do you deal with drainage? I would like to see some more challenging installations. Overall, book gives you good general understating but no reality

Shows in great detail, photos and text on how to install and create patios and walks. Doesn’t go into the plantings as much as I hoped for, but great ideas for hard scaping a yard.

|Excellent for Inspiration AND Instruction,
My husband asked for this book as part of a larger gift for Father’s Day. It was even better than I thought! The pictures are wonderful. They offer a lot of ideas for inspiration. The book also gives step-by-step instructions for each project. This book is the best of both worlds!
