This is in overview of the Roman Empire and Byzantine Empire. It covers the Roman Republic, Roman Empire and Byzantine Empire and the enemies of the empire. It also includes ships and siege weapons. For more detail Greece and Rome at War is better, but if you want the Byzantine Empire this is right book. If you could have only 2 books on Roman uniforms get this book and Greece and Rome at War.

This book has beautiful illustrations and is very informative. The presentation, the binding, and the quality of the paper was also top notch and adds to its worth.

Encyclopedia of uniforms of the Roman world,
Excellent painting guide for this period in history. It would have been very useful when I was painting 25mm lead figures of this historical period. But, better a little later than never.
