Walls

Walls

Walls are a band from London made up of members Sam Willis (Allez-Allez) and Alessio Natalizia (Banjo Or Freakout). Somewhere lost between the psychedelic airspace occupied by Animal Collective and Boards Of Canada, Walls join Kompakt as the label’s most exciting new signing…..a remarkable achievement on the rock/dance frontier.

This review is from: Walls (W/CD) [Vinyl] (Vinyl)

Heavenly sound, Velvet Sound, which will make getting out of your rooms. This grand project formed by Alessio Natalizia & Sam Willis delights our ears through Kompakt (once again – the best record label today).

This record gets into your ears, gets into your skin, it fills completely, you hear only once left trapped inside comfortable and ergonomic atmospheres, as full of substance and beauty in itself.

As refreshing as a Sunday slide into a soothing swimming pool at the end of unrestrained summer holiday to Hedonism.

A beautiful work space filled with sound that never disappoint you.

Smart, assembled in a spectacular way that lets you go feeling, seeing and hearing the different layers of sonic textures that provides you with this excellent production.

Pure minimalism, which at the same time (paradoxically) makes you feel full from so many elements that could be called somehow sound toys for adults.

Enjoyed it, another impeccable work distributed by Kompakt Records.

We also highly recommend the 12” Vinyl Walls “Hang Four” with remixes that will blow your mind THE FIELD – LOOSE FIT – XAVER VON TREY – LOW OR FREAKOUT and of course a remix of ALLEZ ALLEZ.

WALLS is a sonic oasis lost in a big contemporary desert, is one of the best work I’ve heard in years.

Now I leave a fragment extracted from the Kompakt’s website about THE WALLS:

    Hang Four 12” Vinyl
    Walls // Kompakt
WALLS are a band from London made up of members Sam Willis (of ALLEZ-ALLEZ) and Alessio Natalizia (of BANJO OR FREAKOUT). “We take our inspiration by the sense of discovery, curiosity and playful nature of our approach to making music. We have a pastoral take on the natural world, music that has a natural, unique and personal feel – utilizing the best that old / modern technology has to offer.” Kompakt continue to embrace fusion of the rock / dance divide paved on the label by the likes of THE FIELD with one of the most exciting new bands to emerge in the past year – WALLS. Their brand new self titled full length has already set them to be one of the biggest crossover acts of 2010. Vice proclaimed “Walls may just, unwittingly, represent the future” and Prins Thomas went off by saying amazing stuff…” We’ve enlisted a top shelf crew to tackle the first single “Hang Four”. If your not already familiar with the original, Sam conjures a cascading slo-mo techno rhythm which finds an easy bond with Alessio’s lush guitar picking. Label mate THE FIELD was an obvious pick for tackling the original and opens it wide open by building wave after wave of sources from the original into a kraut-disconized killer. Newcomers LOOSE FIT sweeten and deepen the techno side of the original by adding an electofied edge. XAVER VON TREYER runs the infamous SUPERSOUL RECORDINGS imprint and turns out a killer disco nugget with one of the best double bass rhythms we’ve heard in ages. Finally, the members of WALLS separated and come up with their own versions. Sam Willis aka ALLEZ ALLEZ churns out a Moroder-esque electro-house roller that fits surprisingly snug with the a fast pace guitar strum. Alessio’s BANGO OR FREAKOUT guise dives into the lushest moments of the original and treating our ears to the truest of the sublime.
