For only $23.00, that’s what you’ll be getting, so keep that in mind. While I’m not totally dissatisfied given the price, I was surprised with the hardware that came with the set. The cheap drywall screw heads (#2 phillips) strip immediately upon hitting the underlying studs so I instead used self-tapping deck screws to mount. Remember, the peg board is made of plastic, so if you use a powerful electric screw gun to drive the threads home, you’ll break it and sink right through if you’re not careful. Otherwise, I’d recommend you pre-drill your holes before mounting.

Another let down, I have a 4 lb. shop hammer I tried to hang, but the weight was too much for this peg board to handle. This is definitely for light tools only, but if that’s all you will be using it for, then you’ll probably be satisfied. My mistake was reading the name of the kit, “Bulldog,” but in reality, it rates more like a Dachshund.

Pros: Assembly time takes only a few minutes
    Cons: It’s no Bulldog

First off, I really like this product. By this product I mean the pegboard system. It was a breeze to install – the panels just slide together – it seem quite durable, the shape of the board is `configurable’, and overall I just like the look and feel of the product.

So why 2 stars? Let’s see, how to say this so that it comes out right: I know, the hooks suck. Okay, being objective, let me ask: why provide 1/8″ hooks for a board into which 1/4″ hooks fit quite nicely. I know they do because after having the eighth inch hooks fall out of the board and onto the floor constantly whenever I went to get something, I bought the quarter inch variety and now I’m extremely pleased, though with less money in my pocket. In case you’re wondering, yes I tried being careful when getting a tool from the board, but who needs to extend that delicate a touch to retrieving a tool? So here’s the bottom line, I’m annoyed that a company with such a great product would `cheap out’ with crappy hardware and make the `ultimate’ system, the `annoying to try to get your tools off the board and still keep the hooks in the board’ system. Hey, I would have gladly paid a few dollars more for better hardware and would be bending the ears of my family and friends telling them what a great product this is. And by the way, that marketing garbage about the big bonus regarding how the board supports 1/8 and 1/4 inch hooks, is just that, garbage. If I wanted to use 1/8 inch hooks, I would have purchased a board with 1/8 inch holes. No, I wanted solid, and the company had an opportunity to deliver that, and they cheaped out and let me, and themselves, down. For that, they get 2 stars.

I wanted a way to organize my hand tools and get them out of the packed toolbox and up on the wall where it was easy to find things and grab them when I needed them. There are a lot of alternative options out there now from the standard pressed-wood pegboards, including plastic and metal pegboards. While the metal ones I am sure are very durable, they seemed a bit over the top for my needs since I wasn’t going to be hanging anything real heavy on them, and they were quite a bit more than I really wanted to spend.

I came across this Bulldog plastic pegboard system on Amazon. The reviews overall were pretty good and it looked like it would work perfectly for my needs. I just received it last night from Amazon and decided to go ahead and tackle putting it up. There is a great video on the item’s Amazon page that really did a good job of explaining how to install it. I honestly didn’t need to read the directions once I watched the video.

The package comes with four 1ft tall by 2ft wide plastic pegboards that interlock with rubber connectors. Once you have one of the pegboards leveled and screwed to the wall the rest goes pretty fast. It only took me about a hour to get the pegboard up and my tools hanging and organized.

Durability wise, I would probably give this system 4 stars. It is plastic, so if you tighten the screws too much, you will definitely crack it. It actually seemed to hold weight better than I thought. I don’t have anything super heavy on it, just normal hand tools like a hammer, pliers, 2ft level, screw drivers, etc. It seemed pretty sturdy, though, so I think I could even have hung my drill on it and it wouldn’t have been a problem.

The key to the installation is don’t use the mounting screws that come with it. Go out and buy some deck screws and make sure to get a couple of screws into wall studs on each panel. This will help ensure that the pegboard stays where you want it – on the wall.

There really were only a couple of disappointments to me on this package.

1.) The screws and wall anchors that came with it are useless. I tried a few of the anchors just to see how well they worked, and they were terrible. The kept buckling and smashing. I ended up using some I already had. The screws weren’t very sturdy either and would want to strip when I tried to use them in the studs. (That’s why I recommend getting the deck screws.)

2.) I wish they had given a few more of the pegboard connector pieces, so you can finish off the edges of the pegboard. They only give you 2 short connectors and 3 long ones. Plenty to connect everything, but I would have liked a few extra to put them around the edges of the outside of the pegboard to give it a more finished look. Not a deal breaker, but would have been nice.

3.) Hooks and bins: Overall the hooks worked just fine. Nothing super fancy but get the job done. I would have liked more of the “U” holders for pliers and wire cutters rather than a ton of little “J” hooks. I was able to make everything work, but I will probably buy a few more “U” hooks separately from the hardware store.

Overall this pegboard system is great. It did exactly what I was looking for, and for only $25! There are a few little quirks, but nothing that I found too much of a problem. I actually liked the system so much, that I am buying another one today!
