Helpful reference on building and maintaining a pool or spa,
Southern Living’s Swimming Pools & Spas is a nicely illustrated and useful reference for those new to swimming pool or spa ownership. Not only does this publication provide useful information to the novice pool owner, the topics range from pool and spa construction, maintenance, repairs and safety. I knew what to expect and what questions to ask before I contracted to have a pool installed at my home after reading this publication. The many photos of a variety of swimming pools was very useful in the design of my pool. Even if you own a pool and want to remodel, this publication is an excellent resource for new ideas and inspirations.

Good starting book but lacking in details,
I was interested in learning a good deal more details regarding the workings of a pool. In particular, appropriate hydrodynamic design, construction details (what to ask your builder for), and also much more detail on newer alternative sanitizers. This book is a start but you’ll need more detail for educated opinions if you are going to be involved with your pool builder.
