I bought this Seed Vault directly from the vendor’s website, and not from Amazon, but I am so pleased with it that I wanted potential buyers to know they’ll be happy with it too. I’ve also bought a seed sprouter, Tattler lids (for canning) and some herb seeds from this vendor’s website and and have been happy with my purchases.

All the seeds in this vault are are non-GMO heirloom seeds, which means I can harvest the seeds from this year’s garden and replant next year without buying more. The tin it comes in can be resealed, unlike another seed vault I bought that came in a crimp-sealed tin can. We opened the can to see what we got, and decided to try some of the seeds. We grew the beefsteak tomato, California Wonder bell pepper and the Blue Lake bush beans this year, and saved the other seeds in the vault for later. The seeds sprouted well – I don’t know the percentage that did or didn’t sprout, but *most* of the seeds sprouted. And the plants produced well all summer long. We enjoyed the tomatoes the best – it brought back memories of my childhood, when my father always planted beefsteak tomatoes.

I liked that the seed packets in this vault are made of mylar (metalized plastic) with a zip lock top. This helps keep the unused seeds fresh longer, and keeps them from spilling out of the package once it’s opened.

If you like to grow your own fruits and vegetables, and know they aren’t genetically modified and are old fashioned heirloom varieties, you won’t be disappointed with this seed vault!

A wonder selection of heirloom seeds! My seed vault arrived in a coffee type can. completely sealed like a can of soup. The vault comes with a plastic lid as well for resealing once you have opened the vault for the first time. Inside there were 20 or so little opaque mylar bags that were labeled with the seed name, net weight, amount of seeds contained, germination percent, as well as instructions for planting, transplanting, and other suggested care. The mylar bags are resealable like ziplock bags so you can use a few and save the rest. My vault also came with a 6 page guide for saving seeds. This has proven to be invaluable for me! There is a section specifically for each type of seed included with your vault. all the veggies were wonderful and tasted soooo much better than store bought veggies… Highly recommend!!

    Contents of my seed vault:
    green sprouting broccoli
    champion radish
    parris island cos romaine lettuce
    detroit dark red beet
    lucullus swiss chard
    waltham butternut winter squash
    blue lake bush bean
    yellow sweet spanish onion
    lincoln shell pea
    marketmore 76 cucumber
    golden bantam sweet corn
    bloomsdale long standing spinach
    scarlet nantes carrot
    golden acre cabbage
    crimson sweet watermelon
    black beauty zucchini
    iroquois cantaloupe
    snowball self-blanching cauliflower
    california wonder pepper
    beefsteak tomato

    Don’t think, buy., April 5, 2012

I bought the Survival Seed Vault, as well as, the Medicinal Herb Seed Vault just out of curiosity. If you are thinking of purchasing any seeds from Patriot Supply, stop thinking about it and do it. I have a small greenhouse so I can germinate my plants early in the spring and get a little jump on the growing season. I germinated seeds from this vault in small individual germination pods in a sterile germination medium. I grew up planting, growing, and eating fresh vegetables from our garden, so I have a few years experience. I can honestly say that I’ve never bought seeds before with an almost 100% germination rate. The Rutgers beefsteak tomato and the Bantam sweet corn in this package are unbelievable! They sprouted in a couple of days and outgrew the pods in a few days. Absolutely 100% of the corn and tomatoes sprouted and grew vigorously. I also planted broccoli, onions, spinach, green beans, zucchini, cucumbers, green peppers, peas, and several medicinal herbs. All of which are sprouting and growing well. With that kind of success rate, you could probably just throw some seeds in the dirt and walk away, and still have a huge garden. So far these seeds could make anybody look like an avid gardener. I guess we’ll have to wait to see how well everything turns out at harvest time. I actually came here to order another vault to keep in my disaster supplies and thought I would leave a review while I’m here. So, if you’re thinking about it, don’t. Just buy it, you won’t be disappointed. I can’t recommend this product enough.
