Not a bad night stand!,
I bought two of these Chocolate Night Tables for less than the price of a single similar-looking one at another site. Let’s face it, you’re probably going to need two night stands in a bedroom. I assembled the first one in less than an hour, and had the second one together in about 30 minutes. They seem to be slightly smaller than other night stands, but I like that I can now get some books in order in the bedroom. It says on the box that the handle is some kind of nickel, but I swear it’s plastic. I went to a local hardware store and bought two similar-looking handles made from brushed-metal for about $3 a piece, and those work really well. A nice piece of furniture for the price.
Update: People on the Target website have been saying that drawer on this table is hard to open and close because the rails are plastic, or in some cases, rubber. The rails I received are metal, and the drawer opens pretty smoothly.

Couldn’t be more pleased. For the price, excellent night stand. It takes a bit to assemble, but it’s not difficult by any means. I don’t use coasters on it and spill a lot of drinks on it, and no warping or anything! Lots of space in the drawer too, great color and just a great nightstand.

|Caveat emptor,
The pieces were packed and organized in the box the night stand came in and seemed to be packed well with regard for protecting them from knocking around in shipping. Unfortunately, when it was opened there was some minor damage to some of the wood pieces. Luckily, none of the damage is forward-facing, so it’s not really visible fully assembled. That was the first annoyance.
The second annoyance was that there were absolutely no instructions included with the box that was shipped. Fantastic. However, the assembly instructions can be found online on the southshore.ca website. Once I figured this out I was able to assemble the night stand.
A third annoyance was that I didn’t seem to have all four screws I needed to attach the drawer face to the sides, though this may not be entirely justified since I’m basing this off what the manufacturer instructions said should have been included in the package. There were two other screws included that fit and were roughly the same length, so it wasn’t that I was unable to get it attached securely.
All told, assembly wasn’t difficult, and I was able to get it together and it more or less matches other bedroom pieces that I have, which is why I bought it in the first place. However, I would not buy this piece again. There are other, albeit older, reviews that mentioned the drawer slides were metal; what was shipped to me had plastic slides. It doesn’t prevent the drawer from sliding at all, just know that what may have been true a few years ago (based on other reviews) isn’t necessarily true. The low price of the item is certainly attractive, but I wish I had spent a little bit more and gotten something that didn’t present the same frustrations.
