This product is easy and quick to install on any standard door with an existing deadbolt. Nicely done. There are a few quirks in getting it registered with the Nexia system, but after a few repeated attempts I was able to be successful without any calls to “support”.

My one disappointment (compared with the advertising) is that you can’t actually “lock” or “unlock” the deadbolt version via the Nexia internet connection. You can “monitor” if it’s locked or unlocked, and you can “activate” it such that a person standing at the door would be able to rotate the knob below the keypad to gain entrance if they did it within the 15- 30 second activation period. But you cannot lock the door without a person being there to physically turn the deadbolt knob, if you forgot to lock it before you left. You could confirm that you left it unlocked, but can’t do anything about it remotely unless you send someone there. In thinking about it after the purchase, the reason for this is that the battery pack to drive a motor to mechanically move the latch in and out, would be too large to be attractive enough to want to put on your door. Monitoring it is simple and low-power, and also activating a cam to engage the dead bolt knob is also pretty low power. But the motor and drive mechanism to move the deadbolt in and out of position would consume too much battery power.

In hindsight, I wish I had selected the lever handle version of this lock instead of the deadbolt version. Nexia just added a feature for the lever lock that you can indeed “lock” and “unlock” that remotely via the Nexia internet connection. The reason this works on the lever lock is that on a lever lock, all you have to do is enable a cam to engage (or not engage) the lever handle. If it’s not engaged, when a human moves the lever handle to try to open, the latch mechanism will not move, so the door will not open. Therefore, it’s “locked”. If it is engaged, when the human moves the lever handle, that mechanical action moves the latch mechanism back to open the door. The “power” to move the actual latch mechanism is provided by the human, not the battery.

Unfortunately, I threw out the boxes of the deadbolt units, even though I was still within my return period. If I hadn’t done that, I would have exchanged them and just left the standard deadbolt in the door, and never used the deadbolt. :>(

This review is from: Schlage BE369NX CAM 619 Home Keypad Deadbolt with Nexia Home Intelligence, Satin Nickel (Z-Wave (Tools & Home Improvement)

Installing the lock is not an issue providing you follow the step by step instructions. I had 2 installed by 2 different people. In both cases, I gave them the Schlage instruction sheet. In both cases they knew more about the product than Schlage & therefore they did not follow the sheet. When they were finished they had to take it down & reinstall according to the instructions. Once installed connecting it to my MiCasa Verde, Vera Light was a little tricky & I needed assistance from tech support on the Vera. I do not use the Nexia Link as I prefer to use my own & not pay a monthly fee. Now that it is properly set up it appears to be working as advertised.

This is a wonderful lock, I’ve have had it for a few years. You can put in temoprary codes for contractors, etc. It light’s up when you’re entering the code which is great when it’s dark out. However it’s $149 at home depot, I wouldn’t pay this price.
