Chemical smell — possible packaging problem,
I’ve bought this product twice at Costco — it’s a convenient product that is normally pleasant to take — who doesn’t like sugar-coated gummy bears? There’s a disadvantage of these vs. taking probiotics in capsule form in that there are only 250 million units per gummy vs. 1-2 billion units in many capsules, but if you eat these gummies the way I do, you end up with the same amount anyway.
The problem I had with my second purchase is that there was an unpleasant, very strong chemical odor that emanated from the gummies (not just the bottle) as soon as I opened the bottle. I thought at first this might be just out-gassing of the bottle plastic, so I left the bottle open for a couple hours to let everything breathe, but it didn’t go away. I can actually taste the difference when I eat them, but I’ve stopped eating them because I’m afraid there is actually something not right. Too much trouble to return to Costco — I don’t go there often enough. I called the Schiff information line listed on the bottle — twice — and got a recording that said “Thank you for calling” before hanging up. Great customer service backing up your products, Schiff. Not.
I didn’t have this problem with the first bottle, so I’m assuming it’s something to do with either the production run, how it was stored, or how it was transported. In any case, I’m not touching them any more.

I eat yogurt every day, but I read about these chewy probiotic digestives, and decided to try them. I chew two of them every day, and they taste delicious. l feel like they are great, and so low in calories and sugar.
