For anyone interested in theories on the causes of conflict or conflict resolution, this book is a must have. Containing case studies on some of the biggest regional and ethnic (i.e. non-state) conflicts of our time, this book provides not only introduction and overviews, but (in most of the studies) a well-presented discussion by each side in the conflict. The sides are presented by esteemed and well-educated members of the groups involved in the conflict in question, and affords the space necessary for each to describe their side’s perspectives and rationalizations. An incredible read showcasing vital perspectives in modern conflict resolution.

The previous 2 reviewers have already given much valuable information on this video. I would like to add that Helen Corey is absolutely charming and looks like she’s having so much fun in the kitchen. I have a favorite Lebanese restaurant that I drive over 100 miles to visit, and always wanted to know how to make that fabulous food, but everything looked so complicated. I love to cook, but I don’t like to spend hours in the kitchen. Helen Corey makes each of these recipes look quite simple. I felt much less intimidated by my cookbook recipes after being able to literally see her going through the steps of each recipe. It was like being in the kitchen with a friend and seeing each new recipe from start to finish. This is a wonderful video.

The video has made me on expert on Syrian/Lebanese foods, October 1, 1999

This newest cooking video by Helen Corey is one of the most informative classes I’ve ever been to. She not only cooks the favorite foods of Syria and Lebanon but gives tips and techniques on ingredients and methods of preparation. Her methods are fail-proof as she makes cooking these dishes easy in this 70 minute show which keeps you attentive to details. I never realized you could make the most delicious Yogurt starting out in your micro-wave oven. It’s the best! Likewise, flat bread on the grill with a tasty yogurt cheese. And now I’m making fabulous ricotta cheese pastries for my diabetic friends. And then seeing her in the dining room of her home with a lavish spread of all the foods from Baba ghanouj, to Kibby, Spinach & Meat Pies to the tantalizing Baklawa makes anyone’s mouth water. This video along with Helen’s cookbook Food from Biblical Lands are classics in the Middle Eastern field of cooking. Anyone trying these foods from the video will get dazzling results.

Helen Corey’s video and cookbooks are gems, October 1, 1999

I’ve had Helen Corey’s The Art of Syrian Cookery cookbook and Food from Biblical Lands which are my proud possessions. A friend presented me with Helen’s newest video cooking tape and I’m so pleased with it. In my opinion, it should be on the food network. She gives every detail to buying, preparation, tips and techniques that answer any questions you might have in preparing Middle Eastern foods.

It’s entertaining with the Arabic music in the background and her finale with presentation of all the favorite foods in her dining room.

It goes hand in hand with my cookbooks. Helen knows how to keep the public aware of her culture. Her books and artistic cooking video are gems.
