    Worked perfectly…great replacement for NIBCO 90, May 11, 2012

I needed replacement parts for my vacuum breaker. The original one failed and water was leaking out all over. I tried finding the replacement at both Lowe’s and Home Depot with no luck. It seems that they both only carry replacement parts for the brand that they sell, and of course every brand has different parts. It really would be nice if there was some standard.

So I looked on Amazon for the exact replacement which is a NIBCO 90. There was no exact replacement but the pictures for this Prier product seemed identical to mine, so I ordered it. When it arrived, I was concerned at first because the plunger looked just a bit different but I opened it and tried it anyway. It works perfectly, and not a drop leaks through the assembly.

Therefore I would highly recommend this product and can attest that it will work perfectly if you happen to have a NIBCO 90 original apparatus.

Just what the plumber would have ordered…., September 10, 2012

Background/Research: I ordered this to repair a leaky outdoor faucet at my home and below I detailed my whole experience hoping that it will help other novices. I first noticed the leak was coming from an apparatus on top of the faucet downwards. Having no idea what the piece on top of my faucet’s function was or was actually called, some searching on the internet revealed that it was an anti-siphon device used to prevent backwash of water (potentially contaminated with outdoor chemicals from grass treatment, etc.) into the home drinking water. Apparently, these anti-siphon devices get blown out frequently with winter freezing when water is trapped in an attached hose. Hoping that there was a quick fix, more internet searching found someone suggesting the use of a dime to replace the white inner cog/vacuum device (unsure of name but it is the smallest white plastic piece with notched ends in the picture). However, this fix would help the leak but not have an “anti-siphon” effect, thereby allowing water backflow. Some may find this is a viable option (admittedly I did not try it to see if it worked) but I figured it was best to fix this correctly. I then considered checking out the local DIY stores (Home Depot, etc.) but apparently people online had been to them and were told to either get a plumber or replace the whole faucet yourself. This product, or similar ones, apparently do not exist at DIY stores either.

The Decision to Buy: A last ditch effort/search, before calling a plumber, for anti-siphon devices in Amazon brought me to this product. I was torn between getting this device vs the Prier Products 630-7755 Service Parts Kit For Model No. 378/578 Series Wall Hydrants which had more parts (in case you needed something that was unique to your device all parts would seem to be represented) for a little more money. I was a little leery of either product since you cannot really physically test it/compare it to your parts and being that I have no idea what faucet brand or model number I have (a brief internet search, as you can see I do this frequently, could not land a similar picture of my faucet but I have attached pics in case someone can tell me). A couple reviewers stated that the parts looked similar to theirs, had no idea if they would work but took the chance, ordered, and inevitably worked for them. I trusted this review and I went with this package and it worked perfectly for me as well.

The Fix: The device parts were delivered on time and came in a cardboard backed package with a clear plastic bubble cover. After opening I noticed that the pieces looked very similar to mine, again reaffirming things. There were also directions on the box which were straight forward. My original set up had a rubber seal around the larger white screw cap device that laid between this and the top of the faucet which I kept in place initially. However, it leaked with the rubber seal in this position and tried it without and it worked great. Not a drop of water. I did not reuse the metal cap (see my uploaded picture) of my original device and simply used the black plastic cap offered with the package which seemed to fit better and why test fate.

Overall, this saved me some cash in plumbing repairs and was relatively easy. Glad I did the searching and hope this helps someone else out there. Overall, highly recommend the product and if it “seems” that your device looks similar it just might work based on past experiences here.

It does not fit, have every thing as describe but the thread did not match. I do not know why. This is the second vacuum breaker I bought on Amazon. Did not bother to return since it is too much problem. I fix it the “Redneck” way, throw away everything but the cap, cut a small circle paper to cover the small hole. Fill it with silicone up to the top, screw the cap back on, wait for 2 hours. Volla, It works! no more leak. do not know what vacuum breaker is for anyway, but no more leak.

Everything needed for spring filter maintenance, May 21, 2013

I bought this to clean out my existing (2 year old) filter and start fresh this spring. This comes with all “O rings” in addition to short brushes, filter rings, and a new UV bulb. A small tube of silicone lubricant is also supplied to ensure the o rings do not dry out. The only thing this kit doesn’t include are the bio rings but those should last forever. A solid five stars for this service kit: exactly what I needed.
