This kit consists of an O-ring, a plastic cap with a groove for the O-ring, a threaded ring, and instructions. Put the O-ring in the cap, the cap in the threaded ring, and then you can use it to seal off one end of your Intellichlor IC20 or IC40. Then you are ready to pour in an acid solution to clean the internal plates. Works like a charm. Is it overpriced? Yes it certainly is! It should be included with every Intellichlor unit. But you need it and they know you need it so be prepared to shell out almost twenty bucks. One note- please be aware of the dangers of handling muriatic (hydrochloric) acid. This stuff can burn you severely. Work slowly and carefully to avoid splashes and spills. You should wear safety glasses, long nitrile gloves, preferably a chemical apron, long pants, and have a water hose within reach and RUNNING in case you spill some on you. If you get some on your skin, flood the area with the water hose immediately. If you get some on your clothes- don’t be shy, it’s time to strip and then flood your skin with the hose. Once you are done, I have found that the best way to get rid of the acid solution is to neutralize it with baking soda, but get an experienced person to do it with you the first time, because the reaction can get rather lively.

This kit allows for easy cleaning of the salt chlor device. Working with acid is not fun and this product allows for safe cleaning.

Acid washing my chlorine generator is made easy with this product. The only issue is that the o-ring is a little too small making it somewhat difficult to seal. I plan to purchase a larger o-ring at my local hardware store.
