    Pros:
*The Viera-Link works with my Panasonic vt25 TV using the newest Firmware 3.5 (I cannot confirm on original factory firmware).
*Sounds wonderful, 1000x better than the TV’s built in speakers.
*Has volume equalization. No more loud commercials!

    Cons:
*The HDMI ARC connection doesn’t work with 5.1 audio. I cannot determine if it’s the TV or this Unit that’s at fault.

After watching the first movie with my new upconvert DVD and speaker system I must say I’m very impressed. Next some things others may want to know. The speakers attach to the DVD player, not the TV. The speakers are easy to attach, it’s all color coded. Speaker cords are long enough. The ARC works great, it didn’t at first. Make sure you hook your HDMI cable to the correct HDMI port, one should have ARC by it, mine is HDMI 2. Set both your DVD player and your TV to the correct setting for ARC to work. I went back through several times getting the speakers to work off the TV alone,(with the dvd player on) think it was the fifth time re-checking all the settings before they started to work. Now for the review. Ever seen a close up on a movie that was so clear of a mans face you can count the whiskers? I can now. yep the picture is so clear on my 50 inch plasma I could count all the whiskers. The surround so crisp and clear from feet softly moving across gravel on the ground all the way up to explosions I could feel pass through me. I had the volume way up to 75 filing the living room with awesome sound! I love my early Christmas present to myself. For those of you hat do not have a Panasonic TV, I doubt if you can get the speakers to work off your TV alone. Foe those that do have a Panasonic TV, go for it!

Update 12-21-12. Second day I had a problem getting the speakers to work with just the TV alone.(works perfect with the DVD player) I turned on both the TV and DVD player. I had ARC on the DVD display, but no sound, all settings were as needed, spent over an hour trying to figure it out. Next day I woke up early to check my local weather because of a snow storm. I turned on the TV, shortly after the DVD player came by itself and the ARC kicked on.

After getting out the instructions for both TV and DVD player, I read them both through to find out what I was doing wrong and to update my review to help others who may encounter a problem. Everything works fine, just pay attention to the instructions on how to get ARC to work. Set your Viera link setting (the TV settings) to turn on the DVD player, set TV speakers to theater, set DVD player input to ARC. Now for a very important step to get the speakers to work with just the TV, only turn on the TV. If you set everything up correctly the DVD player will turn on automatically, a short time later the TV sound goes off, then the speakers kick in!!

I hope this review helps others who may have encountered problems with the ARC.

This is a decent compact surround sound system that mates up very well with my Panasonic TV. It doesn’t have all the goofy features for trying to correct sound like many other cheap systems have. It is quite a good buy all around.
