When Diggs is hurled away to the vibrant Land of Oz, he thinks he’s hit the jackpot — until he meets three witches (Mila Kunis, Rachel Weisz and Michelle Williams), who aren’t convinced he’s the great wizard everyone’s expecting. Good Movie BUT 3D without 2D — NOT BUYING ON PRINCIPLE, April 18, 2013

The movie was good and very entertaining (but never quite understood where the china doll came from or fit in since it’s not in the original movie). The theatrical release was a decent prequel and normally I’d recommend
    …… BUT……..
If what I’m seeing listed as buying choices on Amazon to be a 3D Blu-ray version WITHOUT a 2D Blu-ray version (never mind a DVD version) is just plain GREED from Disney – I would have liked both and probably would have only seen the 3D version once anyway. My entire collection of Disney 3D is of the 2, 5 and 5 disc combo packs (many of movies I already had) but splitting the movies and not offering a 2D/@D combo pack now bothers me — enough to put an end to buying Disney format after format (VHS, DVD. Anniversary Edition DVD, Blu-ray, 3D blu-ray). Heck my kids dont even watch most of them but tend to get them for “my” collection. I think its now time to get off the Disney bus as the fare is too high for a ride I no longer need. Shame on you Disney for price gouging!

Amazon UK Offering 3D/2D Combo for Less Money, May 3, 2013

For those consumers like myself who want to own the 3D and 2D versions of this film without having to pay extra or go through the hassle of ordering the 2D version via mail from Disney, you might want to consider purchasing this blu-ray from Amazon UK. They are offering a 3D/2D combo pack (without Digital Copy) that is region-free, meaning it will play on machines in North America. I ordered mine today, and the price was 18.5 British pounds (shipping included in that price), which converts to $28.79 US Dollars. The Amazon UK pre-order price guarantee applies. The discs will be released on July 1, 2013, and delivery from the United Kingdom is estimated to be between July 8 – July 12. I’ve ordered region-free blu-rays from Amazon UK in the past, and they’ve arrived safely, oftentimes ahead of schedule, and have played perfectly.

Here is the URL for those who might want to explore this option:

    2D Blu-Ray and 3D Blu-Ray are separate products, without a reduced price for each, April 11, 2013

I sincerely hope that this doesn’t become a trend in Blu-Ray, but I’m not surprised that Disney is doing this. The 3D Blu-Ray and 2D Blu-Ray are separate releases. This wouldn’t be a huge problem if the cost wasn’t the same as previous releases that combine both. But unfortunately they are. Yep, if you want to own both the 2D and 3D Blu-Rays of this movie on Amazon as of now, it will cost you $63.

This benefits no-one, not even Disney, as owning a combination of both 2D and 3D was an incentive for 2D watchers to upgrade to 3D.

If you are wondering why this is such a big deal, or why many reviewers are passionately giving this product one star, just think about the long term effects. Although movie studios are trying to push people to downloading movies, there are still many people who still prefer to buy the Blu-ray versions and are willing to pay for it, because they desire the quality that downloadable content cannot reproduce. If you’re reading this review, you’re probably one of those people.

I have over 50 3d movies and documentaries and i’ve seen 1 star 3d’s and this is not one of them. granted it’s not IMAX UNDER THE SEA ( which is the best of them all) or IMAX DEEP SEA (second best) but it’s not terrible. Though the negatives do outweigh the positives. CONS: Some scenes do have what appears to be smudge marks on the lens, it looks blurry and there is some glare now and then. Also 80% of this is just fish swimming around, there is a sea turtle that looks great and a few dolphins, so the content is a little boring. But the number 1 annoyance is the narration, believe everything you read from other reviews about it. from pronunciation, childlike tone, uninteresting comments, it’s all true. The solution for this is to go into the settings and change to MUSIC ONLY setting, it’s so much better. PROS: there are some really good 3d scenes, nothing really WOW (like IMAX UNDER THE SEA) but decent, the dolphin scenes look really good. Overall the majority of the picture quality is quite good. The music is fine. So in conclusion if you factor in the low price, and you watch this with MUSIC ONLY setting, I would have to recommend it. But if you can get only one underwater 3d definitely get IMAX UNDER THE SEA. Although this one is only a third the price of IMAX UNDER THE SEA. So you get what you pay for.

Bought this to test my 3D TV. The underwater pictures are awsome. As I expected, it is just a documentary, so basically you can enjoy the pictures. That is about all.
