When I bought this, summer was over, yet it was still warm out, and the first school break was here. This teacher was beat after starting a new school year. To relax, I wanted to enjoy a few more days lounging in the sun, in a pool, with a book and a beverage. But I didn’t have time before school days resumed to go to the beach and didn’t want to pack a pool bag and drive off to the pool. I just wanted a couple hours a day in the sun. I had this pool over-nighted, inflated it (on my deck for leveling purposes), filled it with water and wah-lah! It was perfect for my needs. I don’t really “swim” at the pool, I float. And I don’t like even slightly cool water, but I didn’t want a baby pool to just sit in. In this pool, I can stretch out in it or lounge in the corners with my tush cushioned, and on the day or two the water was too cool, I put my LARGE lounger float in it so that all that was in the cool water was my feet! Yes, the large float fit (well…it didn’t move around a bunch, but it was floating and had six inches or more to move front to back and side to side which was enough for me–close my eyes and I might as well be in a community pool without the noise). My husband thought it was a great idea and sat in it with me once just to relax and unwind after work! Even if it doesn’t survive storage and won’t inflate next summer…it was worth the 4-5 days I used it (I got it on sale) and I would buy it again! But I am hoping it survives…this teacher will put it to great use until it wears out! (Yes…I rated it educational…I relaxed and was a better teacher for it)!

For a little pool, it’s mighty and is also pleasant to look at. The description tells you that there are four seats in the corner for the moms to use while watching their toddlers and it’s perfect. My grandbabies wanted to go into the pool the minute they saw it. It sold itself to their little toddler eyes. I feel that it’s very safe because it’s so shallow. I am not sorry I purchased this pool. Happy dippin’!
Buy those battery operated fish to run around the pool, they’re a ton of fun.

Not Much Summer Fun When It Doesn’t Stay Inflated, June 28, 2010

This pool had good (but few) reviews so I went ahead and took a chance on this. The pool has 2 outer layers to inflate. After inflating the first evening (I laid it on a tarp just to make sure we didn’t get any punctures) and adding water, by the next morning the bottom layer was almost completely deflated. The top layer was also losing air. I drained the water and tried airing it up again – same results. Next I sprayed soapy water in attempt to find a hole. No success. Then took it over to my in-laws large pool and dunked it to see if we could find air bubbles. No.

So “Why not just return this defective product to Amazon?” you might wonder. Well, this pool was $40. To ship it back, I’d have to pay $19 in shipping (which is not reimbursed b/c it’s Amazon’s fault – the package was not damaged during shipping). Then – even if I returned it – Amazon won’t exchange it and will only refund me UP TO 50%. You can do the the math from there.

IF – and that’s a big IF – this pool wasn’t a defective item, it would be a great pool. The inflated seats and back rests (which stayed very inflated of course) on each corner are pretty comfortable and it would work out great for my wife or I to sit out with the kids. But it IS a defective item and all I can say is that I won’t be buying an inflatable pool on Amazon again. I’ll pay a bit extra at my local store so I have the option of returning it if it’s defective.

Update: I also contacted Intex directly. They cannot exchange the defective product (it seems this pool has been discontinued since it’s hard to find just about anywhere to purchase online) and there is no service plan for it offered by Intex. They suggested I contact Amazon. So, there’s $40 and a defective product in the trash. Buyer beware: You’re gambling your money when you order this pool online.
