I passed Security+ with 844 last week on my first try. This book covered all the exam objectives. The concepts were simple and easy to understand. I highly recommend this book to everyone who wants to be Security+ certified.

Useful but way simplistic, May 4, 2013

This book may help cover briefly the majority of the exam topics but many of the explanations are so simplistic that become misleading. For example, I stumbled upon a note suggesting that one way to detect a XSS attack is checking if the app uses Javascript. For anyone not familiar with web development may appear as if almost the entire web is under XSS attacks.
While this book has some use as a quick guide, I would not buy it alone; I would also get the Comptia Security + Get Certified Get Ahead by Darrill Gibson, which is a five stars book with almost everything one needs to succeed in the exam.

If you need a tool to help you before the CompTia Security+ exam – this one is for you. It helped me greatly with refreshing the topics in my memory banks. Highly recommend if you are about to take the exam.

Good sensor, okay light, pretty easy install, January 1, 2011

I installed this in the front yard near the front door. There’s not a tremendous amount of light, such as for security purposes, but it’s good for the sole purpose of making sure you don’t bump into anything. The sensor seems pretty sharp, when I drive up in my car it goes off just pulling into my driveway. The install was pretty easy, but I feel like it has kind of a clumsy look or something. It’s just personal preference though. I bought this one and also the Fulcrum Products Light-It 6 LED Porch Light with Motion Sensor for the back yard. I would give each the same type of review, except that I prefer the look of the Fulcrum and the install was easier.

Update March 25: It’s still working, no battery changes yet. The Fulcrum light stopped working after a couple months.

Update June 10: It’s still working, no battery changes yet. I’m buying another one for the backyard to replace the Fulcrum.

    I need 10 of these!!!!, October 1, 2008

How did I live without this product? There are so many dark places around my house that I never wanted to pay an electrician to wire. Just take one of these Spotlights, put the batteries in, attach with two screws and you have light! And it’s bright! It has motion detector so the light goes on only when my dog or I walk by. Otherwise you don’t have to worry about leaving it on and wasting electricity. Great idea – great product!

Bright light, but stays on continuously, February 23, 2009

The beam is quite bright for an LED motion light. However, two of the three I have stay on almost continuously even though there is nothing moving in front of them. They seem to go off and then on again immediately all night long, which means the batteries don’t last too long. I will try to cover some of the sensor or aim it even closer to the ground to see if that helps.
Update: I covered 80% of the sensor with electrical tape, leaving just a small section in the middle exposed. The motion light is behaving much better now.
